BURN ARTS STANDS FOR BRISBANE URBAN AND REGIONAL NETWORK FOR THE ARTS

BURN Arts is predominantly responsible for the production of Modifyre annually.

 

However, in our year-round presence, we support artists and collectives in Brisbane to hold events for their communities.

Our current Management Committee comprises of the following members:

The objects of of BURN Arts, Inc. are:

  • to organise, develop and promote:

- an annual arts, music and cultural festival which is inclusive, accepting and safe; and

- other related events promoting self-expression, identity and understanding;

  • to act as a vehicle for the creation and propagation of participatory, interactive, thought-provoking art works and events;

  • to develop and support workshops and training activities for artists and volunteers;

  • to support community-based fundraising events to further the development of the objects of the association;

  • to foster a culture of critical thinking and social activism;

  • to conduct all its activities in an environmentally sustainable manner;

  • to adhere to the 10 principles of Burning Man; and

  • to foster the Burning Man community in Brisbane and regional Queensland.

YEAR-ROUND SUPPORT

BURN Arts supports participatory art for the community year round. If you have a project that is civic in scope and aligns with our values, get in touch! 

Depending on the needs of your project, we may be able to offer: 

- A micro-grant

- Grant writing and funding advice

- Access to tools and equipment

- Callouts and promotion via our media channels

Year-Round Support

MICRO-GRANT SCHEME

We have created a micro-grant scheme of up to $300 per project to fund participatory community activities year-round, outside of the Modifyre event. If your idea is any of the following, we might be able to fund you! Is it: 

  • Impactful

  • Feasible

  • Participatory- touched, inhabited, heard or experienced

  • Responsible (environmentally, socially, ethically)

  • Reusable or recyclable

  • Decommodified

The next round of micro-grants will be available after Modifyre 2024.

THE BURN ARTS REGIONAL NETWORK

IN ORDER TO LIVE UP TO OUR NAME, IN 2019 WE OPTED TO FORMALISE OUR NETWORK WITH NOMINATED COMMUNITY CHAMPIONS THROUGHOUT REGIONAL QUEENSLAND AND NORTHERN NSW

OUR GOALS ARE:

 

  • To ensure that regional members outside of the Brisbane city centre feel included and have equal opportunity to contribute to the community.

  • To grow our membership base, theme camps and community in regional areas.

If you live regionally and would like to get involved, or better involved, in our community, you can contact your Regional Champion for updates on the committee’s and the community’s activities, support to hold fundraisers and events, and for a more chances to connect socially.

BURN Arts, Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation, incorporated under the Associated Incorporation Act 1981 (Qld) (Incorporation number IA56243).

BURN Arts Inc. and the Modifyre community wish to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Country
upon which Modifyre takes place, the Bigambul Peoples.  

 

We also wish to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Country upon which we al live, learn and work.
We honour their Ancestors and pay our deepest respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging.  

 

We extend that respect to all First Nations People, for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture and hopes of
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across the nation. We honour and respect their continued cultural and spiritual relationship
to their Traditional Lands, Seas and Waters and recognise their unique and valuable contribution to society.
