JOIN THE CREW

As you interact with your fellow participants at Modifyre, you may notice something peculiar – everyone you meet seems to be part of a crew...

Even that dude you saw dancing wildly last night – now he’s wearing a high-vis, asking if you're doing okay. Participation is key at Modifyre. We are ALL participants and co-creators; we are all crew. There are no passive consumers, no spectators, no corporate production company pulling strings in the background. Every single participant, from the site manager to the toilet paper guy, is a volunteer and a ticket-holder.

As an entirely participant-driven event, the success of Modifyre relies on YOU (and you, and you) to get stuck in. There are loads of important roles to fill, so have a look on the right and find the crew that’s right for you!

WARNING: Joining a crew may result in excessive fun

REMEMBER - Everyone buys a ticket! There is no distinction between ‘crew’, ‘volunteers’ and ‘festival-goers’. We all make Modifyre, by crowd-funding it, co-creating it, and taking care of it. So even if you're volunteering, you still need to buy a ticket.

Buy the ticket, take the ride..

YEAR-ROUND ROLES

We primarily recruit for crews working during the event. However, we also need help throughout the year to make Modifyre thrive. If you have skills or experience in any of the areas outlined below, or you are just interested in getting more involved behind the scenes, please get in touch at volunteers@modifyre.org:

ADMINISTRATION
As the event grows, so too does our crew. And as our crew grows, so too does the paperwork! If you're the kind of person who just loves a good spreadsheet, salivates over a well-built document template, or just can't wait to sink your teeth into that new policy document, we want to hear from you!

COMMUNICATIONS
Are you a people person? Do you love words and pictures? Do you like to have your finger on the pulse of what's happening? The Comms team works year-round to keep the information flowing wherever it needs to flow. That means managing Modifyre's online presence and our IT systems. We also compile and beautify the Event Guide. During the event, we try to relax!

If you have mad skills in written, verbal or graphic communication, are a social media wizard, or you want to learn how to be, email comms@modifyre.org

FINANCE
Although no money changes hands at Modifyre, we must face the unpleasant truth that without money, the event simply cannot happen. As a crowd-funded event with no sponsors and no commercial activity, the margins can be pretty tight. The art of Modifyre might seem ambitious, but if you want to see truly incredible feats of wonder, watch as our crack team of accounting wizards, budget bosses and number crunchers balances the books year after year!

LEGAL
Although Modifyre invites us to create the world of our dreams - a world where boring stuff like insurance and contracts do not exist - the edges of our dream still come into contact with reality. This is why the legal entity BURN Arts, Inc. was set up, as an intermediary between Modifyre and the "default" world. When it comes to our legal obligations, we need people who know how to talk the talk and walk the walk.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH
As we move into our beautiful new home, we will be getting to know the neighbours. This includes the local Council, business owners, schools, community groups, farmers and anyone else who might have a stake in the success of Modifyre over the long term. It is a key part of our mission to build lasting and meaningful relationships with the community that hosts us. If you like to forge strong connections with other humans, please get in touch!
