The Forgery facilitates the creation of art at Modifyre. Our role is both curatorial and administrative. This means you will process art registrations and grant applications, determine artists' requirements and connect them with the relevant resources, provide logistical support and liaise with them onsite. You will commission artists to work on specific areas of the site infrastructure, including the entrance gate and signage.
During the event you will help run a gallery for the presentation of visual art & small scale installations, and provide information on artists and their work.
You will become part of a team working to facilitate interactive artwork throughout the year. This means you will be available in the weeks and months leading up to the event as a point of contact for artists interested in bringing work to Modifyre and other burner events in the region. You will also be active in promoting burner arts in the wider community throughout the year.
You will need to be available onsite at least 1 week pre-event to set up the Forgery gallery and liaise with early-arrival artists.
The most important attribute is a love of ART. After that, an aesthetic sensibility, experience with arts & cultural organisations, and a familiarity with grant application and evaluation processes are all useful.
